Le Petit Récap

What is Le Petit Récap?
Le Petit Récap follows artificial intelligence news around the clock and summarises it in a few lines, with a link to the source of every story. You can read it on the site, in the morning edition and in the Friday edition.About Le Petit Récap
Who publishes Le Petit Récap?
The site is published by an individual acting in a non-professional capacity. Their contact details and those of the host are in the legal notice.Legal notice
Is Le Petit Récap free?
Yes: the site, the morning edition, the Friday edition and the RSS feed are free, with no targeted advertising. Le Petit Récap does not sell subscribers' email addresses.
Is Le Petit Récap independent?
Le Petit Récap is not tied to any of the companies it covers. No article is sponsored, and no source pays to appear in the feed or to rank higher in it.Our method

The news and its sources

Where does the news come from?
From more than forty public sources, in French and English: the official blogs of AI labs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Mistral AI, Hugging Face…), research, the specialist press, expert newsletters and institutions such as the CNIL or the European Commission. The full list is public. Our sources
How often is the news updated?
The feed is updated every 30 minutes, day and night. Only articles published less than 48 hours ago are summarised. The events calendar is refreshed every day.
How is an article selected?
Every new article goes through the same criteria: it is recent, it is about AI (for general-interest media), it is not a duplicate, and no single source can add more than 8 per run, so that none dominates the feed. The list of sources is maintained by hand: AI does not choose it.Our method
What is the relevance score out of 10 for?
Every article gets a score from 1 to 10 based on its reach, novelty and concrete impact. It orders "Today's essentials" and is used to pick the articles in the morning edition.
Are the summaries written by AI?
Yes. A language model reads the excerpt published by the source and writes the title, the summary, the "In brief" points, the "What it changes" sentence for each industry concerned, the category and the relevance score. Another model writes the editorial of the morning edition and the Friday edition, from articles already published.
Can I rely on the summaries?
Summaries are not proofread one by one by a person: they go through automatic checks before publication, but they may contain errors or inaccuracies. Each summary cites its source and links to the original article, which prevails: check it before making any decision.
How are articles classified?
Each article gets one of 9 categories (research, tools, agents, business, ethics and regulation, hardware…) and, where relevant, up to 3 of the 18 industries, from health to video games. The companies mentioned (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral AI, Nvidia…) also have their own page.See the sectors
Do you reproduce the text of articles?
No. We show the title, the link and a summary that we write ourselves. An article page is read only if the site's robots.txt and its text and data mining reservation allow it, solely to write that summary: the text is neither kept nor republished. How we collect
How do I report an error in a summary?
Write to contact@lepetitrecap.fr with the link to the article page. We check with the source, then correct or remove the summary.Report an error
Can a publisher ask for its content to be removed?
Yes. An author or publisher who no longer wants their content to be used writes to contact@lepetitrecap.fr: the source is removed from collection and the content concerned is unpublished within 72 hours. Sources that refuse reuse of their content (robots.txt, text and data mining, terms of use) are not followed.Legal notice

The newsletters

Which newsletters does Le Petit Récap offer?
Two, both free: the morning edition, sent every day, and the Friday edition, which recaps the week's highlights. By default a subscription gets both; you can keep only the Friday one. Past issues can be read on the site.Subscribe
What time does the morning edition arrive?
It is scheduled for 5:00 UTC, which is 7:00 in Paris in summer and 6:00 in winter. It may take a few more minutes to reach your inbox depending on your email provider.
How many articles are in the morning edition?
Up to 10 articles: the highest-rated of the last 24 hours, never two on the same story, with an editorial introducing them. When there are fewer distinct articles, it contains fewer.
What is in the Friday edition?
A selection of up to 15 articles, picked from the week's highest-rated ones with no two on the same topic, with a summary text. It goes out on Friday morning, around 9:00 in Paris time in summer and 8:00 in winter.
Can I receive only the Friday edition?
Yes. Choose that option when you subscribe, or change it later from the link at the bottom of every email, or from the Newsletter tab of your account.
How do I confirm my subscription?
After you sign up, a confirmation email is sent: the subscription only becomes active once you click the button it contains (double opt-in). The link is valid for 7 days; a sign-up that is never confirmed is erased after 30 days.
I did not receive the confirmation email. What should I do?
Wait a few minutes and check your spam folder. You can then request the email again from the sign-up form or from your account: a new email can only be sent after 10 minutes.
How do I unsubscribe?
In one click, with the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of every email or the unsubscribe button in Gmail and Yahoo. You can also write to contact@lepetitrecap.fr with the subject "Désinscription" from the subscribed address. No justification is asked.
Can the newsletters be personalised?
With a free account, the industries you follow come first in your morning edition. You can also choose the plan (morning and Friday, or Friday only) and the language of the emails, French or English.
