Origin of the content

The articles summarized on Le Petit Récap come from public sources: RSS feeds from media outlets and specialized blogs, public event calendars and official texts for regulation. They are collected automatically several times a day.

Each article is then summarized and categorized by artificial intelligence services (Mistral AI, Anthropic), which only receive this public content. Each summary links to the original article, which is the reference.

The summaries, editorials, event recaps and descriptions published on Le Petit Récap and in its newsletters are generated by artificial intelligence, then checked by automatic rules. They are labelled as such on the site and in the emails.

How we collect content

We read what sources publish for reuse: their RSS and Atom feeds and public APIs (title, link, excerpt). When the site's robots.txt, its tdmrep.json file and the page itself (header or tdm-reservation tag) do not object, we also read the article page, only to write an original summary in our own words. That text is neither kept nor republished, and the summary never copies a sentence from the source.

Our crawler is identifiable (LePetitRecap/1.0, with the site address and a contact). It reads each site's robots.txt before any page, respects the sources' terms of use and the text and data mining opt-out expressed by rights holders (tdmrep.json file, tdm-reservation header or tag), in line with article L.122-5-3 of the French Intellectual Property Code and article 4 of Directive (EU) 2019/790. A source that opts out is not followed.

Neighbouring right of press publishers (article L.218-2 of the French Intellectual Property Code): we only show the article's title and link, next to a summary that we write ourselves.

Events and training: data from confs.tech (MIT licence), the dev.events feed, public iCal subscriptions of Luma calendars (facts only: title, date, place, registration link) and the public FUN MOOC API. Writing tasks are handled by Mistral AI and Anthropic, which only receive this public content.

Removal: an author or publisher who no longer wishes their content to be reused writes to contact@lepetitrecap.fr; the source is removed from collection and the content concerned is unpublished within 72 hours.

The list of sources followed and what is reused from them are on the Our sources page (lepetitrecap.fr/en/sources).

How it is collected, processed and protected, and how you can retrieve or erase it, is detailed in the privacy policy.
